Derbyshire County Council is investing £15 million for a new care facility on the old Bennerley School site.
Plans include a 40-bed residential care home, 66 extra-care apartments, 18 bungalows and a café. The facility will replace the existing Hazelwood Care Home, which has remained open following a 2017 consultation where local residents felt strongly that the current home should stay open until a new one was built.
Cllr Robert Flatley commented “This is an excellent proposal that ensures DCC can continue supporting elderly care in Ilkeston for years to come.”
