Trent Valley Sailing Club Get Financial Grant Assistance of £1550 To Repair The Landing Stage
Guy Browne and Belinda Bramhall requested Derbyshire County Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal for financial grant funding to repair the landing stage sited on the River Trent at the sailing club which got damaged in the February floods. Trent Valley Sailing Club has been in existence for many years and apparently it is the only sailing club of this size outside of London.
The sailing club has many members of various ages from our local area who enjoy sailing for recreation and competitive purposes, they are also keen on more people from the area to be involved in sailing, especially the youngsters from Long Eaton and the Sawley area. It has been a difficult year with the impact of Covid - 19 when activities have been curtailed but both Guy and Belinda are hopeful of welcoming back many members when the current situation allows.
Belinda Bramhall, on behalf of Trent Valley Sailing Club said;
"Trent Valley Sailing Club is grateful for the grant of £1550 which we have received from Cllr Kewal Athwal’s DCC Members Leadership Scheme budget. The money will be used for vital repairs to the river bank and landing stage at the club following damage in the February floods. The repairs will restore our club facilities so that they can better serve the people of Long Eaton and Sawley"
Derbyshire County Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal said;
"I am aware of the excellent history of this Sailing Club with its many members from the local area and when I was approached by Guy Browne and Belinda Bramhall to assist with a Grant of £1550 from the Members Leadership Scheme, I was delighted to help"
