Sawley Youth Club gets Grant Funding from Derbyshire County Council

Derbyshire County Councillor for Sawley Cllr Kewal Singh Athwal has given £846 from the DCC Members Community Leadership Scheme towards the cost of purchasing sports equipment and pump priming Sawley Youth Club to sustain itself to offer activities to the youngsters of Sawley.

This group meets on a weekly basis at Sawley Park, and the activities are overseen / organised by Lisa and Paul who are both qualified to work with young people.

Paul and Lisa said;

''This grant from Derbyshire County Council will prove to be absolutely crucial in ensuring our youth club is sustainable post- lockdown. Part of the grant will be used for sports equipment and will be vital as we engage young people in physical activity throughout summer. Some will be used to fund accredited first aid qualifications and some will be used for the rent to help get our youth club up and running for the autumn""

Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal said:

"It is a great way for young children from our area to have a fun filled session with lots of activities on a weekly basis and I am very pleased to have been able to assist this wonderful work".
