Sawley VJ Day Commemoration Service.

A small, social distanced commemoration service was held at Sawley War Memorial on Saturday 15th August 2020. There was a small gathering of local residents and Sawley Parish Councillor John Hay Heddle conducted the service and order of events. Derbyshire County Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal laid a wreath. 

All attending residents were thanked for their support for the small service of remembrance. 

Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal said; 

"It is our responsibility to remember our history whilst commemorating the sacrifice made by many of our forefathers for the freedom that we all enjoy today"
