Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11 acceded to the throne on 6 February 1952 and her 70 years of service was celebrated across the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world.
More locally Derbyshire County Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal was requested by Pauline Smart for £300 grant funding to assist in the printing of 200 coloured souvenir booklets to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Pauline Smart on behalf of All Saints Church Sawley and Sawley Methodist Church Said;
“The £300 grant helped tremendously towards the printing of 200 coloured souvenir booklets with all the hymns enclosed plus an acknowledgement page of supporters, printing of flyers/posters, 200 handheld flags for this Songs of Praise village event organised by All Saints Church Sawley and Sawley Methodist Church”
Derbyshire County Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal Said;
“I am delighted to have been able to support the celebrations here in Sawley with this £300 Grant from Derbyshire County Council. This was a once in a lifetime event which may never be repeated anywhere in the world, and was fitting that our residents of Sawley were so enthused and dedicated in celebrating this momentous occasion”
