Last week saw the official opening of the new Glossop Library by local Cllrs George and Jean Wharmby. They were joined at the opening by local families and children as well as special guest and children's television presenter Ben Cajee. The opening of the £2 million library next to Glossop's Adult Education Centre represents a commitment by Derbyshire Conservatives to provide top quality services to the people of Glossop.
Cllr Jean Wharmby said
"This will be the focal point for the whole community. A new library in Glossop demonstrates the county council's commitment to a strong library service."
Cllr George Wharmby added
"The new building has transformed our idea of what a library can be. A lot of thought has gone into it - with areas for children, teenagers, study areas and new computers. It is bright and airy. Thanks to all the staff who have worked so hard to make it happen."
