Today the Conservative Cabinet at DCC approved significant investment in several Derbyshire schools, including building a new primary school in North Wingfield at a cost of £3m, as well as £900,000 to build a new hydrotherapy pool at Alfreton Park School and £1.65m towards a phased replacement of Aldercar Community Language College. This investment underlines the commitment of Derbyshire Conservatives to invest in modern, fit for purpose facilities and environments for our young people to learn and excel in.
David Wilson, local Conservative County Councillor for Alfreton, who is a strong supporter of the Alfreton Park schools’ ambition to build a new hydrotherapy pool for its special needs pupils and its users in the local community, said
“I’m delighted that Derbyshire County Council has invested in this fantastic new facility and come to the aid of local hardworking fundraisers who have spent more than a year raising funds.”
Cabinet Member for Education, Cllr Mike Longden added,
“This underlines our commitment for fairer funding of schools in Derbyshire, to allow investment that supports our young people wherever they live in Derbyshire. Earlier this year we approved a significant investment in a new secondary school in Tibshelf and now we will deliver these fantastic new schools and facilities for our communities.”
