The Derbyshire 2030 Climate Pledge
Derbyshire Conservatives commit to drastically cutting carbon emissions in the County by 2030, with the aim of being Net Zero by 2050 in line with ambitious targets set by government and the IPCC.
We will do this by working with our communities, other local councils, with industry and academia to ensure a fair and sensible transition to lower or zero carbon technologies and to grow the County economy by facilitating a green Industrial Revolution locally. To achieve this, we commit to growing the local skills base and creating high quality jobs for people of all ages and investing in community energy projects led by local entrepreneurs.
We will always work sensitively and proactively with residents to help them with the transition to greener technologies and ways of living.
We will also commit to doing our level best to halt the destruction of important natural habitats and create new habitats to see a net gain of biodiversity in our county by 2030.
We welcome any political parties or groups that will join us in committing to this ambitious pledge.
