DCC Councillors Working Together to Assist Long Eaton Cricket Club
Derbyshire County Councillors Kewal Singh Athwal, Alan Griffiths and Garry Hickton working together as a team to support LECC with a £3000 Grant to enable the cricket club to install new practice nets at their playing field on West Park.
Martin Dellar of LECC Said:
'Long Eaton Cricket Club is a community based club and have been in our current location on West Park for 50 years. We provide cricket for all age groups from Veterans to our youngest section the ECB All Stars and have recently introduced a ladies team which continues to go from strength to strength.
The club have embarked on an exciting development plan for our current facilities, which we are actively looking for support from the local community and are extremely grateful to receive a grant of £3,000 which will be used towards developing permanent cricket nets which is fundamental in developing hardball cricket skills for all our members in a safe environment.
We are so grateful to Councillor Athwal and his colleagues for supporting this initiative and look forward to working with the council in the future'
DCC Cllrs Kewal Singh Athwal, Alan Griffiths and Garry Hickton said:
"We are all aware of the good work LECC does in coaching young and the not so young cricket players, both Male and Female from our area. We are mindful that the last year has been very difficult with restrictions placed on playing community sports due to the Covid - 19 pandemic but we hope that in the not too distant future we shall see cricket being played on West Park again for the enjoyment of all"
