Julie was brought up in Derby and moved to South Derbyshire in 2001.

In the community, Julie has served as a district councillorm school governor and parish councillor and in Hilton she is on the Mease Pavilion Committee and also the Committee for Hilton Harriers FC. Julie is a member of the 50 plus forum which enables her to bring social events to the community.

Julie has served as the County Councillor for Hilton Division since 2009 where she is Cabinet Support Member for Young People.
